MUSIC GENRES

Our sets have a strong bias for Old School Dance Music that covers several decades from 70’s Disco to the Dancefloor bangers of 2024.

Every set is tailor crafted to the event but most fall into one or more of these genres:

  • Multi-decade Pop & Dance
  • Old School Disco, Jazz Funk & Soul
  • Northern Soul
  • Sophisticated Chill (maybe with an Ibiza vibe)

Our Mobile DJ Service is designed for minimum dependency on you or the venue and we come fully equipped to make your event a memorable one.

We use a Stereo Yamaha 2.2kW PA System that is powerful enough to rock the joint whilst this latest Line Array technology can also fill an event with lower volumes because, unlike traditional Point Source speaker systems, it has a 170° horizontal and 30° vertical beams; this gives a wider coverage without the need for ear-splitting volume at the speaker point so we can get your chill session into the corners without overheating those sitting next to the speakers.

From a sophisticated chill vibe to full-on party mode we can make your bar the place to be. No two bars and no two days are the same, we work as a two-person team to read the crowd and flex the setlist to deliver an experience.

Private Events

Regardless of the event or celebration, we provide unforgetable entertainment.  Every event is custom planned so we will ask a few questions about the event and who’s coming.  Then just leave the hassle to us.

HOLIDAY SITES

We love people on holiday, they come ready to have fun and we being that fun!  Being fully self-contained, we set up in Beach Bars, Campsites or Dance Halls.  We are there to make sure people have a great time.

Corporate

Whether it’s a product Launch, a networking event or a party for your team, we can provide entertainment for you.  From low-key atmospheric vibes to dancefloor bangers, we will work with your team to create the event you want.

Insurance & Safety

We take our professional responsibilities seriously and we carry £5m of Public Liability Insurance for both a Music Act and as a DJ Service.  All of our equipment is PAT tested and Mark has DBS clearance. 

All certificates are available for inspection on request by the client or the client’s venue.

How do I book you?

Contact Us first to discuss your event or venue.  If we don’t feel we’re the right team for you, we will say so at the earliest opportunity.

After that we will give you a fully-inclusive quote.  You can accept this quote and confirm the booking with a 25% deposit.  The balance is payable 2 weeks before the event.  If we are already within the 2 week window, then we will ask for full payment.

What do you charge?

That’s not an easy question to answer because there are so many variables but we like our pricing to be transparent so here’s an overview of how we calculate the charges.

Below are a couple of worked examples for a Private Party at £485 and a Corporate Event at £680.50 calculated in June 2024.

Please note that these rates are fully inclusive of equipment hire and we do not charge supplements for special events E.g. Weddings

Primary DJ Rate (£100 ph – 3h min)
This is typically 3-4 hours at any event when the DJ will be at the decks and working hard.

Secondary DJ Rate (£40 ph)
This is for when the DJ is playing music but at a much lower intensity.  Often this would be background music from a semi-automated playlist over dinner or similar.

StandBy and Set-up Rate (£20 ph)
It takes about 2h to load in, set-up and shoundcheck and 1h to load out.  But also there can be long periods of time between setting up and starting.  This rate covers all that period.

Mileage (£1.50 per mile distance – covers both ways)
We are based near Banbury and we calculate the mileage from our base to the venue using Google Maps.  The rate covers travel there and back.

 

WORKED EXAMPLES

Private Party
A birthday party at a venue in The Cotswolds, 30 miles away that starts at 6pm for arrivals, drinks and dinner and then the main event from 8-11pm.

Arrival at 4pm is 2h set-up and then 1h break down at 11pm.  This is 3h x £20 = £60.

Background music from 6-8pm is 2h x £40 = £80

Core DJ from 8-11pm is 3h x £100 = £300

Mileage is 30 miles x £1.50 = £45

£60 + £80 +£300 + £45 = £485

 

Corporate Event 
This is a networking event for a company in London.  There are a few complicating factors.  The first is that we need to be setup before lunch as the venue is being used for their networking event in the afternoon.

The second complicating factor is that it will be difficult to load in and we can expect this to be up to 3h.  Loading out may also be extended at 2h.

The final factor is that there will be additional costs for Congestion Charge and Parking. Our vehicle is ULEZ compliant.

Arrival at 9am with 3h set-up and then 2h break down at 11pm.  This is 5h x £20 = £100.

Standby time from 12-6pm is 6h x £20 = £120

Core DJ from 6-9pm is 3h x £100 = £300

Mileage is 65 miles x £1.50 = £97.50

Parking (£48) + CC (£15) = £63

£100 + £120 +£300 + £97.50 + £63 = £680.50

What do I need to provide?

Power is a necessity.  We need access to a standard wall socket, preferably two.  

Internet Access is always a help.  It’s not a critical necessity but we have subscriptions to online DJ Music Services that help us find music that we dont’ have to hand and venue ethernet or wi-fi is can often be better than mobile devices.

Do you have specialist genres

Although our selection is wide and diverse, we have an undeniable specialism in old school Disco, Jazz Funbk & Soul.  Artists like Jocelyn Brown, D-Train and Chic will appear regularly on our setlist but so will modern reworkings such as Late Nite Tuff Guy.

Also, Northern Soul is a niche that we enjoy to play and will occassionally sneak a 3 track medly into our diverse sets.

Will you play requests?

Possibly.  Probably.

We like to accommodate requests but it depends on many factors including the client and the vibe.  E.g. if we are booked to play a Chill Ibiza Vibe and the request is a hardcore Techno track then we will probably have to decline the request.

Do you play up to date music?

Absolutely.  In 2024 artists like Dua Lipa are regularly on our set lists.

Can I see your setlist before the event?

We can supply an example setlist for any event but we would rarely be able to send you a definitive setlist because we are most likely to change the tracks on the night as we read how the audience are reacting to the tracks we are playing.

Can I ask for tracks to be included in the setlist?

Absolutely. 

This is your event and we want it to be a an event that you remember with happiness.  

As part of the pre-booking discussions, we will ask you for a list of tracks that you think might work well. 

We will look to play as many of these as possible but your choice of tracks will also tell us a lot about the audience and what vibe you’re looking for.

What equipment do you use?

We have invested several thousand pounds in our equipment to make sure that we provide the best experience and that we are up to date with the latest capabilities.

At the heart of our system is the latest FLX10 from Pioneer.  This is a 4ch controller with exceptional versatility.

The power of the system comes from paired Yamaha Stagepas 1k Mk IIs giving 2.2kW of power with exceptional finesse.

Do you have lights?

Like all of our other equipment, we have invested significantly in lighting to provide you with a lightshow to enhance your event.

With moving head spotlights, a laser unit, monster hex wash lights, PARs and bar lights all computer controlled by DMX, we put on an impressive lightshow that can fill large rooms.

There are no extra rental charges for our lights.  Our rates are all fully-inclusive.
